When Video signal is weak .. OSD is also weak ??!! please correct me

    Hi ..

Well.. for some reason I was under the impression that when the video signal is weak, I still can use the OSD to get out of trouble .. but I suppose this is not correct because the OSD data is also sent via the the same weak Video link ...

OSD and camera video become one video feed .. and will be treated as one ... all clear or all unclear

So in other words .. if the video signal is weak, the OSD will also be weak and may not be useful (seen).. I'll be completely blind ... correct ??

Thanks a lot and I hope my question is clear

Are you sure you understand the basic concept of an wireless link? The camera being connected to the OSD does not suffer from degradation, or loss of, signal due to increasing the distance between the FPV plane and yourself on the ground. The wireless link consisting of the audio/video transmitter (Vtx) and the audio/video receiver (Vrx) is the link that connects the FPV plane and yourself together. However the more distance you put between yourself and the FPV plane the less signal the Vrx receives.

Think of it this way around: Your FPV plane doesn't have a Vtx fitted but a lightbulb connected to the battery instead. Now when you are close in the light appears very bright, but when you fly the plane further out it starts to get dimmer and dimmer, until you reach a point where it is too dim to see. This very same thing happens with your Vtx, the difference being it doesn't emit light but electromagnetic waves (EM).

So, whatever your camera feeds to the OSD, or the OSD info itself, is not important, it will be affected by the quality of your wireless link which is directly proportional to the distance between the FPV plane and yourself.

Does that explain things? Or do I need to get into further detail?

When people say that about the OSD, they mean as the picture starts to get worse, it's easier to navigate with the OSD's arrow or compass than trying to navigate by terrain.
