While I agree with Myron that 1 hp is excessive, you can still use your motor. Just don't prop the life out of it. It will happily do 1/2hp and you don't need to ever worry about it burning up.

That said, if you want a serious plane, go for a Windrider Queen Bee. 100" wingspan. 1hp will fly that plane nicely. At 100" you will have no wind problems.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

wingspan generally changes the wing loading, so its not irrelevant, but yes, one should calculate with wing loading.

As far as prolong it out or running it hard. I have no interest Fiona of doing that. Remember my mission is a slow but stable flight where wind is unbothering.

Also, while I think the queen is a more elegant flying wing I am more of a fuselage and landing gear kind of person. Any suggestions?

I am leaning towards something along three lines of Alex's forward swept DIY plane. I feel like upscaling shouldn't be too hard... I think I would just lower the wing loading a bit and probably go with hollow wings because solid ones would probably be expensive. To buy the foam for.

The reason I would use this motor is because its not just though motor... I already have the esc and batteries so Inherently save money because its a sunk cost. Plus by towing big I theoretically increase the flight time. ^^ (I probably opened up a can of worms but its true)

That would be awesome! IBCrazy's Specter scaled up to 60" or more would rule. Make the fuse as narrow as possible to lower drag and it will be super efficient. It's not the most stable plane though, I bet IBC has some ideas on how to make it more stable.

That's the name of it! I think to help out stability I would make it a slight v-wing so that it "hangs" on its wings...

You dont want to put diehedral in a flying wing.. A wing gets its stability from the sweep...

    Myron, the specter isn't a flying wing - here's the thread: http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....-FPV-plane-yet

Also, my 36" flying wing has slight dihedral and is extremely stable, while still having good roll rate. video: http://vimeo.com/33884162

Ok seems that I found the thread I was looking for. I am building a FPV plane. Wing span 80" cord 12". Wt around 2 kg plus. Now what should be motor and prop combo?

You will want about 500w or more for decent performance.

Considering it to perform FPV flying?
