No he heats the to threaded rods. LOL
Thats a really good idea, a flex shaft dremel used as a sort of makeshift mill... might have to try that.
That thing is lookin awesome Chukmil, pro work.
Don't steal, the government hates competition.
How do you work with the Carbon dust? I have always been to worried about it to go at it with power tools.
Very nice mount though. How sturdy is the bend?

I use a respirator with dust filters....try to work outside in a breeze when possible.
It is very ridged, 4 layers of CF cloth set in epoxy resin. I lay up and mold all my CF plate and parts.
I made this quad and gimbal the same way. I dont have a CNC machine so I do it the old fashioned way.....
Impressive, most impressive. You have talent.
Never laid cf myself. Maybe I'll try one day.

Not really. I have a special jig... if you want to call it that... The jig is nothing more than 2 pieces of metal angle with threaed rods through them. The wing sets flat on the bench and you heat the all-thread rods up with the torch. Once hot, you drop the rods into the foam while the angle iron supports them to be sure the go in to the proper depth. Then you remove it and do the next wing. The reason I melt it is because it makes a nice glazing on the foam which increases trength... and I have no milling machineThe rods snap right in perfectly every time.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

I took my Specter up to 5800ft on 2200mah over the weekend. I probably could have gone further too if I didn't just circle.

Volto hooked me up with a new version fuse as well so this was the last flight as an all-white Specter. I think I will set it up to run off 4S as well![]()
I grabbed one of these:

My GBx double has a bent shaft and the foam 'skewer' mount is vibrating itself out of the fuselage. Looking at a new bell / shaft was as much as a new motor so for the sake of expediency I grabbed the firepower. Someone sent a link to a similar one on eBay a bit back but they wouldn't sell to Canada. I'll make a mount tonight and hopefully some flights this weekend.
Motor mount question - any reason to not have the mount point 'down' to have the motor behind the fuselage instead of above it?
Should be able to actually climb with this motor, no?
