    Thanks, It looks worse that it is. Can you clean it up a bit with a cotton swab and some alcohol and retake the picture.

    You will have to replace as I can see 2 components. The diode D3 (most likly shorted) and a coil that was right beside it L9.

    Replaced the diode as Martin said with these from RS Components part number 710-4118.

    Unsoldered old one and replaced quite easy then bridged wire between the two points as show on the above photo.

    And it works again!!

    Thanks to Martin for his help. Hope this can help someone else if they make the silly mistake I did.

    Very Cool it's works again. Guys I can offer my services. I have learned a few tricks for repairing over the last 30 years. You can either send me a megapixel image by email or even send me the unit itself. Most times it will only cost you the postage to and from and price of the part(s). All I can do is try. Instead of listing here check out my profile page and you see what I have worked on, incase you wondering.

    Is that a 1AM on the transistor? If it is then it's just a standard 2N3904 transistor
