Thread: Component Repair Service!!!

  1. #1541
I think I can do the repair, having done similar soldering repair previously.
My question is more to know if after a reversed polarity there is a good chance that only this component is fried and if anybody knows where to get a new one or a similar one.
I tried to look on internet what kind of component it is and where to purchase one but could not find any info.
Also, maybe someone knows exactly what component it is and if another model can be used, easier to purchase, and with the same characteristics ?

Hi, I broke the vtx on my hglrc f4 v5pro aio fc .

I had it plugged in via usb without disabling the vtx, then after around 15 minutes plugged in a 4s lipo, which lead to magic smoke..

Now the vtx exhibits the following behavior: On the 25mw setting I don't get any signal on my googles, on 200mw its mostly static, and on 600mw I can read the osd. However, if I move away further than 1m the signal is lost. Is this maybe typical for a certain component to be broken?
    Cheers

Unfortunately the burnt part is too small for me to replace, 4x4mm and 16 legs, no thank you .

Does anyone know which pad connects to betaflight osd video out so i can connect a different vtx?

Hi yosh, can't tell from your pic... but if you can get numbersoff the chip could look up a pinout.

thank you, unfortuntely most of the print is torched.. i can only read
    x 9
    x99
    x0
where x stands for a unknown amount of digits or letters .

edit: oh wait, did you mean the chip that is covered by the metal case?

The rtc6705 is the 5.8tx module pin 10 is vid in 28 is gnd for that and pins are numbered anticlockwise from the dot looking at top of chip. the power amp module should be pretty common for the 5.8 with that package not too many choices out there
I think the 6705 can do 20mw direct that is why you can still see a pic close with it just tx'ing into a burnt chip with bad matching.

thank you. The "missing" pins are still counted right, i.e. vid in is on the "bottom left" as annotated in the picture?:

Unfortunately non of the big pads on the left and right of the vtx module are connected to pin 10, at least thats what my multimeter tells me. What is connected with a resistance of just 14ohms is gnd and +5v though . Guess I'll have to remove the vtx module and see if the 5v line is fine again afterwards or if something else is broken...
My solder knowledge is somewhat limited, all more or less self trained. How would you suggest to remove the vtx module? In some tutorial on youtube someone used hot air, but that was on a module without so many components around. Here I'd be afraid to remove nearby components by accident. Alternatively I was thinking to put some metal on the left and right side pads to connect them, heat the metal on both side and hope that the module comes off. But first I'll try to use solder wicke to remove as much solder as possible and hope that it's enough, but I doubt it. What do you think?

edit: yup, removed the broken component (by force) and now at least the 5v line is not shorted to gnd anymore

edit2: in case anyone ever stumbles upon this post with the same problem, the video signal is on the 3rd pad from bottom left in the above picture. I mean the pads that connect the video transmitter module to the fc board.

edit3: removed the transmitter module using hot air, its id is SP269TX, pinout:Click image for larger version.
