    fried 7" LCD

    Hi,

I connected my 7" lcd with reverse polarity (3S Lipo). Lcd is this on http://www.dealextreme.com/p/portabl...40x234px-81058
Reverse connection was max. for a second cause I heard some cracking... so disconnected. Connected again with correct polarity- lcd came on but went out after a few seconds... smelling fried electronics. Disconnected immidiately.

Would be cool if this could be repaired cause its a really nice lcd... shows static without bluescreen.

Here are some pics of the PCB
The backside shows no burns or anything - also no components on the back.
Looks like the only thing burned it this black chip.

What part might that be exactly? Voltage reg.?

    Rob

That is a switching power supply IC. No idea was it is. I may be able to come up with with something but will take a bit of time. The capacitor beside the coil with the 220 marking on top, what is the value?

    Martin,
thanks for your reply. The capacitor next to the 220 marked coil is 220uF 10V.

    Futaba 9C component ID

Seems the blue component is DOA (L207) it has a black spot also on the front. It allows the full battery voltage to the module.

    Any suggestions on replacement??

    As always thanks again.

thats a coil, no idea of value. If you have any old electronics around you may fine one inside. value is not to critical.

I have a Hoverfly Pro board that I think I have fried the ESC outputs on- and Hoverfly doesn't repair their boards...darn it. To my very untrained eye, it looks as though the component on the board with the burned spot may be at fault. I don't mind sending it to you for eval if that is required- Also, I can take a better picture when I get home- this is the only one I had on my phone. Thanks!

Hi, I have kind of a silly question for you. I have two broken vtx's. One was involved in a game of chicken with a tree 800mW rmrc unit and has a rolling black and white picture now...like it won't get lock. The other is a 200mW vtx that I managed to power up with reverse polarity. My thinking is that perhaps the crystal on the 800mW unit is broken and I was wondering if you thought it might be possible to swap the crystal from the 200mW unit to the 800 to try and revive it.

    Thanks in advance!
