Thread: Hitec + headtracking.

    Hitec + headtracking.

    Well hello there,
while looking into a new FPV system, I came across some very vague posts somewhere in my research (can't remember exactly where I saw it...) stating that Hitec radios are incompatible with most, if not all, headtracking systems. I own a Hitec radio, and I don't want to invest in components if they aren't compatible with each other.
is anyone able to confirm or deny this fact for me?
I will make you cookies! (Or waffles...?)
    Thanks guys.
    J

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't head tracking just plug into the Trainer port of your radio? Sending a PPM signal, the Eclipse 7 has both PPM and QCPM not sure what the difference is... which radio are you talking about?
    You wanna see my what?!!
    Oh... my OSD

If you are lucky to get EZUHF, it will put the head-tracking information into the data stream independent of your radio. I think the bigger problem FPV compatibility and Hitec is that the A9 seems to have issues when used with UHF transmitters. See this link:

For now I'm on 72MHz, but at some point I could see wanting an LRS.

I use an Head Tracker (TrackR2) but I have only figured out how to use it with my Futaba setup. It plugs into the trainer port. You need to be able to throw the trainer switch and still use channel 5 and 6 while in the trainer mode. So it works as long as you have the trainer switch engaged.

Some radios do not let you use all of the channels while in trainer mode.

    Regards,

As far as I know you can't use a Aurora 9 with a headtracker. http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=214296&page=2
The trainer mode has two settings: 1. all channels are processed from the trainer-transmitter (all mixers must be programmed on the trainer-transmitter
    2. channels 1 to 4 (aileron, rudder, throttle, elevator) can be mixed from A9 and the trainer-transmitter

if that is also the issue on your optic 6, i don't know.
