    Tricopter 2.5 BEC Question

Hey guys, I'm building an RCExplorer.se tricopter V 2.5 and in his build instructions he doesn't say anything about removing two of the 5V+ leads from the BEC's. From what I've read and understand, it's best not to run the linear 5V becs in parallel and just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something here.

The BEC on the Hobbywing/Plush/Proton 18A ESC's I have is a 2A linear and is only supplying power to 1 servo (BMS-385DMAX) and the KK 5.5 blackboard.

Here is how I have my completed harness, with two of the 5V pins removed from the servo connector folded back with heat shrink over them:

    you'll be fine.
    the right way to go!

    cheers
How many engineers does it take to change a light bulb?
    3. One to hold the light bulb and two to turn the ladder.

Thanks for the reassurance, I just wanted to make sure since it's not like I can just glide down to the ground if I have a failure.

Here's a pic of it mostly mocked up, just waiting on a 4mm carbon rod to finish the tilt mechanism:

I know that part. Two props snapped in half (first one and the second one followed shortly because the extra stress added to it by the turning prop with only one blade..) about 7m over ground. Luckily it was grass..

    nice tri btw

    cheers

Failures on a tricopter always end it a crash, but the good part is that even the worst crash usually means replacing a prop or two and maybe a couple arms if it's real bad. You can be in the air again in a few minutes to finish the battery off! lol Unless you unlucky enough for an ESC to end up in a spinning prop when an arm breaks like my last crash, it knocked a bunch of components off the board after mangling the heat shrink! That thing meant business... lol

You've got the right idea with disabling two BECs. They'll sometimes work together but not always. They always work when you just use one.
