Preparing for First flight / setup

So currently I have the following items:

HD Bloggie (stock in one piece)
    1.3ghz 100mW Tx
900mhz - 1.3ghz Rx (I went the cheap route for now)
    7inch LCD TV (from amazon)
    3s 1800mAh 20C

    Plane components:
    Hitec 8ch Supreme
    18A Turnigy ESC
Emax 2215/25 BL (weak motor) 10x5 prop
    3s 2200mah 25C pack (quite big IMO)
    2 Hs-55's for the split A-tail

So here is what I plan on doing, I have also attached images to visually see what I'm thinking on doing.

    I will build the plane.

Build the tripod made of a square block, three fish eye hooks, three half fish eye hooks (for rods) and 3 equally (or close to it) rods.

Build the viewing box (foam box) with the Vrx battery, the Rx on it and the LCD tv inside.

Would it be alright if I mounted my Tx on one of the inner panel wings (as shown on the sketch) ?

How is my orientation of my antenna's?

I can't wait to start putting this thing together and flying.

It's funny, I used to always hate that it's not windy enough here (in the right direction) but this weekend it's just perfect 20+mph winds from the North good for local slope soaring but not for an FPV maiden .

Can't wait to fly FPV, I hope my range is adequate for under a mile (that's what I expect to start with (close) ) .

It looks like your wooden tripod would be a pain in the butt to work with on anything other than perfectly level ground. A cheap tripod can be had for ~$20 and will have adjustable legs for uneven ground. You can build up the mounts using a 1/4-20 nut, some epoxy, and a $2.36 piece of 5.2mm plywood (or foam) from Lowes. Then just velcro all your stuff to that. It wouldn't be a bad idea to hang a sandbag from the hook on the tripod to keep it from being too top-heavy either.

Just my 2 cents...good luck with your first flight.

Not disagreeing with you here but current budget can't do it.

Although this tv has a stand so perhaps I can just set it up on a bench.

My monitor arrived with a dead Li-Ion battery so I'm trying to fix that.

Rewound the Emax 15-16turns 1 strand of some old wire I found in an AC motor, works good so far.

Good luck on getting ready for your maiden!!
you asked about Ritefun on youtube. . . 4-5 minutes and depending on prop I can get 90mph level flight. . . when I land everything is pretty HOT (batts 135-140deg) and needs to cool off. LOL (sorry bout the OT)

My goodness the quality of this tv is terrible

Good thing I was able to fix it, the brightness 'potentiometer?' fell off, the neg power lead to the lcd ripped off the pcb board, luckily there was a pre solder connection prior to that part of the circuit.

I also fixed the battery, now it can play on its own.

On a side note I found an old 2249-12 motor of mine it is a strong motor.
I have to rewind it but it'll be a sweet ride.

What is a cheap alternative to locktite?

I have succesfully rewounded two junk motors one for speed the other for thrust using the non-terminating wind.

I just have a problem where the shaft slips from the bell / can = loss of thrust
