The TBS DISCOVERY PRO - brushless gimbal quadcopter

After 6 months of hard work, countless prototypes and iterations, hundreds hours worth of testing, it's finally in production (yes, IN PRODUCTION ... !). We're proud as can be to introduce you to the newest member of the TBS DISCOVERY family:

The TBS DISCOVERY PRO - fpv gimbal quadcopter. By far the most awesome new gadget for the hobbyist, semi-pro and pro aerial videographer.

    TBS DISCOVERY PRO Timeline:
    PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT: 23rd June, 2013
OFFICIAL DEMO & PREORDER: 1st of July, 2013
FIRST ORDERS SHIPPING: between July 25th and July 30th

Here is why this frame is so awesome: It sports a fully integrated & jello-free Brushless Gimbal and separate FPV camera for piloting, SimpleBGC logic on the frame (licensed by AlexMos!), custom TBS IMU, integrated TBS CORE with GoPro/FPV camera toggle switch. The Gimbal is compatible with GoPro2 and GoPro3 White, Silver and Black. Optional dual-pilot support (drone and camera operator separated - separate video link). And some additional, very unique features to improve the performance of SimpleBGC. But we won't tell you about them, because the competition seems to be not one but two steps behind these days

It comes in the usual quality finish and plug & play style the TBS DISCOVERY line is famous for. The essentials are fully integrated on the plates, to make the final assembly as easy as humanly possible. No separate boards, wire spaghetti, purchasing stuff from multiple sources or components that don't match. It's in the box, take it out, slap on some ESCs, motors and props, a flight control and you're ready to shoot videos.

Naza V1 is no longer in production. by the time this is announced for preorder we will have no more stock, neither will most of the other retailers. The V1 is pretty much the same as the V2 if you upgrade the software.

Final pricing will be announced at pre-order.

so all of us coming from the original disco, im assuming we would be able to opt out of the dji arms and tbs core since we already have them?

Thanks. The difference from this to the QAV is that the front camera (CCD) is still where it used to be on the standard disco and the gimbal control is built into the frame.

the CORE is not optional on this plate. It's already bolted on and integrated into the design. The reason is that the CORE also powers some of the other electronic components that are required to make this happen, such as the gopro switch, etc. I'm not sure about the arms yet, but I'm guessing they'll be optional.

whats the go pro switch all about? is it a way to toggle between fpv and go pro video feeds?

yes. some of the shortcomings of current gimbals is that you can't actually see what you're filming. you've got a fully stabilized gimbal but no way to look at the footage in the air. also, if you just flew via the gopro link you'll crash in tight places due to the lack of attitude feedback. during testing we found the best is to fly through the FPV camera to line yourself up for a shot ... and then switch to the gopro footage to position the camera ... and depending on if it's a close flying area or wide open field, switch back to the fpv feed to fly.

    I just came..

Seriously this sounds MUCH better than the FPVMANUALS gimbal. Can't wait for pricing and being a couple hundred dollars poorer.
