Long range I just need to get out to 8.5km to take the record in 5.8ghz damn it, everytime I get ready to go further someone has betten me to it.

Alex are these 12 turn helical's with a wave trap?

I am looking to tune some to 5885mhz to match my cloverleaf.

The 5.8GHz is centered at 5790MHz and uses the conductor match. You can use a wavetrap if you like. You need to feed the antenna very close to the reflector. Use an RG316 cable and 14 AWG wire. Feed gap should be 1-1.5mm.

Alex, I take it this antenna would be to big for 1280MHz application? I keep debating on which one to build...eventually I'll get some antenna's started and be happy.

At 1.3GHz the antenna would be 23.5" long! That's a monster! I am working on a high gain compact antenna for all bands based on the crosshair antenna that Hugeone and I are developing. In time...

I'm looking at having the black cannon for my Foxtech 500mhz FPV system. I have already your blubeams and they are great, having pegged them at 2 miles. How would you mount the black cannon as the Rx antenna?

It's called the cannon for a reason: aim it at the plane like it were a cannon. Using this antenna takes 2 steps: 1. Aim 2. Fly If you get 2 miles out of the BluBeams, you will get 12 or so from the cannon.

Thank you, Alex. BTW, with a 500mw, 5.8Ghz FPV system on BluBeams, 2 miles is an average? I mounted the Tx on my Skywalker wings and the video breaks into the 2- mile mark so I have to go back. I use the DragonLink LRS so I don't know if somehow they both kinda affect each other. I fly on a farm on a suburban community with a nearby freeway and a cellular tower.
