    Turnigy 9x / FlySky 9x

So whats the consensus on turnigy gear? Mostly woundering about the turnigy 9x aka FlySky 9x.

its not super high quality (average plastic, screws can wear off if you unscrew often) and the programming sux, but the gimbals are very decent and it works just fine in the end.
if you want a cheap radio, it does the trick very well with a good module such as a FrSky or a LRS. you'll probably want the kit to change the firmware to a community driven one tho.

Can you explain that a bit?

    Check http://code.google.com/p/er9x/

What I dislike in stock firmware:
    - errors in model mode names
    - model name setting dont really work (at least, for me)
    - beeping all the f. time
    - mixes are very odd, needed 6 manual mixes and some hair loss to get single elevon moves added to regular elevon mixing on a flying wing

    What you get in ER9X:
    • Up to 16 model memories.
    • Multilevel flexible mixer - any input channel can be assigned to any output.
    • Mixers can be added, multiplied or set to replace other mixers.
    • 8 5pt curves, 8 9pt curves with graphic visualization.
    • Expo and Dr for the 4 primary channels, split Left/Right with graphic visualization.
    • Throttle trim, throttle expo.
    • PPM input from the trainer port can be used as input to mixer.
    • Adjustable timer for each model. Can be activated by switches, throttle channel or throttle %.
    • Adjustable battery warning voltage.
    • Adjustable contrast.
    • Adjustable beeper.
    • Selectable trim increments.
    • Selectable PPM output - 4ch, 6ch, 8ch, 10ch, 12ch, 14ch, 16ch.
    • Selectable PPM pulse spacing.
    • Limits and offsets for each output channel.
    • Offset can be set with stick inputs.
    • Stick calibration.
    • Graphic or numerical representation of output values.
    • Throttle tracing.
    • Reverse throttle
    • Telemetry with some mods

Guys, I would like to hack my 9x to work with a 72mhz system, since what I've read that's the way to go for slightly longer range, because lrs are too expensive for me at the moment...
I would have to install an antenna into the 9x and a 72mhz module...but I can't find any module cheap , that's the problem..

    ZobZibZab:
How is the 9x powered? Can you use a 3s lipo?
What programming board did you use to flash the new firmware? I ordered this one: http://www.smartieparts.com/shop/ind...roducts_id=331
Did someone test the 9x with modified firmware with an EzUHF transmitter?
What is the difference between the ER9X and the TH9X?

when you get it the 9x is powered by regular AA batteries but you can replace it by a lipo 2S, just be careful with low voltage. default firmware will beep while the lipo is will ok, just charge at like 6.8V. Personally I use good AA batteries instead because its simple and still last pretty long. Check enelops and HK clones of that.

ER9X and TH9X is just the brand, i don't know what exact diffs they have but probably not too many. Might be a few differences in the default stock firmware, and also some chip with different modules. Old version of the 9X has a 72Mhz radio built-in but you'll have to make your own research how to make it work. There might be something on RCG about this.

I got a cheapo usb programmer but what you bought looks ok, just more expensive.
Backlight kit is $5 from HK and very good imo.

These use the JR module AFAIK.
Here is an affordable module. Confirm compatibility though before purchasing:
