I went with a slightly different build.

    DT750 motors - hobbyking
    10x4.7 props - hobbyking
    copter control board - openpilot.org

The ESC's are 'hidden' on the legs & all motors are zip tied to the legs to save weight.

Ive still got a small vibes problem but overall im very happy with how it turned out.

Technologeek73 & Kevinv033 thank you for your replies. I'm not even installing the FPV gear until I can control it LOS.

However you both have raised what may be a critical point. I'm using a basic Rx/Tx that came with my Bixler which I'm assuming does not have DR & Expo. I have ordered the 9ch Turnigy but have not checked if that has it.

Is that the Turnigy 9X? I am not exactly sure if it has it. A friend of mine has that radio and I can ask him...I would think it does have dual rates and expo. One nice thing about MultiWii is that you can adjust the Expo and RC rates in the firmware. They actually suggest it since there is better resolution.

    Badlands, very nice build

Can I ask how you've mounted your GoPro? It looks like you've modded the case. I'd like to use the case minus all the other stuff.

Yea i modded the case, basically removed all the push buttons, front lens & rear door, then drilled larger holes so i can activate the gopro buttons.
    It made it quite lite!

I then bolted it straight onto the camera plate & used rubber bands to hold the go pro in - seems to work well!

    :-)

Cool! Let us know how it goes. Would be good to learn about the quality of the live output. The lens is supposed to be much sharper and the sensor much more low light efficient. It may be much better for FPV than the previous version.

Very nice! Can I please ask where you got your CopterControl board from? They seem to be like hens teeth?

    About dual rates and expos...

Make sure your expo is set the correct direction--I have a Futaba radio, and apparently you want -30%, not +30%. This made for some fairly exciting flying tendencies.

After I suspected this as the problem, here's how I tested it:
    • TAKE PROPS OFF. I know everyone says this and everyone thinks you don't have to...just do it.
    • Set your radio up to use expos...+/- doesn't matter, just pick one.
    • Arm your board
    • Move the throttle just above idle, and move the yaw stick back and forth to the stops

Watch the yaw servo. Given a constant stick rate, the yaw servo should speed up as you approach the stop. If it moves fast near center stick then slows down approaching the stop, switch signs on your expo setting.

Why you'd want the opposite of expo, I'll never know.
