Not because its the best bike, but because I haven't had a bike in a long time and I aways wanted a Sportster and I thought it was now or never. I've taken it on a few trips, out to the Rockys and Yellowstone one year and to the Blue Ridge Parkway the next. I've put a lot of miles on it, over 50,000, but in the last few year since discovering RC planes I haven't rode it as much.
Doesn't bore me one bit. I took my Nighthawk 650 on a 3000 mile trip out west last year. I had an awesome time - just me, the Nighthawk, my tent and whatever else fit on the back of the bike (not a lot). My only complaint is that the Nighthawk tank is pretty small - I ended up getting gas every 120 miles or so. I did carry a jiffy can with an extra gallon just in case - not a lot of fuel options out in Glacier.

I really enjoyed it also, and so did the wife, she rode with me. I did have a sissy bar pack and saddlebags, but we stayed in motels and didn't camp. Like you my gas tank is small and so after about a 100mi I'd start looking for a gas station. My back side would always need a brake anyway. I only had 2 weeks and I wish I had more, I may have to do it again!!

    The Aprilia RSV4 is a V4, and it's a monster too, it's only 3 weeks old though.

Always had a love for the pasta rockets.. Could never afford one on my budget though, so I'll stick to my trusty ZX-6R. =]
Far better is it to dare mighty things, even though checkered by failure; than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much or suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
