LOL. Here is my vision - and a few others. I am not interested in competeing w/ RCG. It's a great place - and it's ALL-ENCOMPASSING. It's a Monster. I just think that the FPV space wasn't well represented there bc there was no controlling parties there who were passionate about FPV. There were MANY other reasons as well.. but we'll stop there for now. There's FPV tech over there that goes back to when some of you were still in high-shcool - YEARS of great tech. The beauty is - that the source where a lot of that tech came from has arrived here, and they believe in what we are trying to accomplish. FPV tech is more than words on a page - it's conversation amongst colleagues. It's flying with buddies... it's discussion about failures and successes. I want to provide a pallete where ANYONE can come and discuss FPV - and not get bashed, talked about, attacked. FUN and FLYING... and well, the occassional crash. I am not against the other site at all - the warbird forum, and some of the glider guys are kool. I can't discuss that here (totally), so when I want to really get in bed with warbird stuff I'll find my way back there for that. But I feel that FPV is a much different space from regular RC... and we really can't be lumped into a monstrocity site like that. That's all. Easy on the boycot talks - LOL. I'd love to see new articles get a FIRST LOOK over here. Currently though, LOTS of great tech is there. FPV is alive - it changes everyday - and I hope to leverage that with great NEW tech and concepts that were given a 1st chance here.

I hope we can accomplish that in a safe and docile manner --- I'm not gonna PM people if things get childish over here. I'm not going to ask questions... I'm not going to ask who started it. Posts will just disappear - or so will threads.... but that will happen in the name of friendship and good times, NOT in the name of "control". So listen people... if decency and respect for your co-pilots and their style is not your M.O and you can't operate like that, regrettably this is not the place for you. I don't think that's a lot to ask - and I think it's within everyone's means.

    Happy Flying!!!!

I'm saying that if people don't respect ea other - then their questionable posts are going to disappear - and maybe the entire thread if there is a mass of people that can't get it together. I don't want that - AT ALL. I'd much rather just know that people are going to keep it fun and friendly. I think we all have that in us naturally.

Personally I don't think you'll ever be able to kill off RCGroups, even purely in the FPV arena. That's not to say that I think we should, or that I want to. The difference between what RCGroups has for FPV and what I'd like to see here, is that here I'd like to eventually see most (at lest the best parts) of the wealth of info that's over there, here. But better. Better organized, classed into different sections, with less arguing and all the other nasty stuff. RCGroups has bigger fish to fry than catering to our needs as a group of FPV pilots that are cast off to the side by the traditional R/C crowds. Whether or not that's to be considered a fault, there's no denying the fact that it's happening. The thing about running our own show over here, is that each and every one of us is here first and foremost for one reason, and that is FPV. We won't put things here on the back burner to go and deal with more pressing matters and are no doubt a huge challenge with a forum the size of thiers. If we're all in it together and work to make this a pleasant place to be, we should be able to build ourselves something good!

So in short, don't boycott RCGroups, appreciate them, and realize that we as the FPV crowd have outgrown the FPV section of their forum, and this ever expanding aspect of the R/C hobby deserves the devotion and attention that we intend to give it here.

My hope here is that it will be a collective of experienced pilots - where someone can ask a specific question - and get an answer to the question by someone who knows something. I have been doing this for 2 year - so most of my noob questions are behind me... and those that aren't - I use the search function.

I just get tired of the people that can actually add value getting consumed by the folks that just want to show off by bashing them.

Boycott is harsh, but I know what you mean. I am mild mannered, so I do not get into fights and have fit into the woodwork of RCG well. Especially e-fights. Just the concept seems dumb to me. Real life is problematic enough, if e-life is such a hassle, why bother.. Probably my most angry posts were ones defending others who expressed their opinions and were harassed for it. Of course it takes 2 people to argue, so usually folks got dragged into, but I digress.

I think here the process of growing tech-wise will be slow. It has to be unless we pirate RCGs resources by referencing over there (which maybe is not so bad). The advantage we have now is that everyone here has at least some experience. This is not a forum of newbs, so every post here has the potential of being informative on some level. The problem is kinda the question of, do we keep it that way and how?

It is a hard question. I would like for it to be a forum where if you register, you cannot post in certain forums until you have been here X amount of time, have X amount of posts, or have been excused of this requirement by the leadership (i.e. you are know at RCG for your experience). I know this sounds elitist and a turn-off to some but really it is the best way I can think of to keep at least some threads pure form the distracting newb questions. There would be a newb section for that traffic... But that is just one issue in a whole bag of issues you might have with RCG

Anyways, that is some of my mental 'masturbation' about what this site is to me (or should be FOR me)...

I guess I'm confused as well. It's pretty clear that you (and some others) were not happy with the moderation on RCG. Yet it sounds like your method of moderation may be even more harsh? Just tryin' to understand your thought process on this. That's all.

edit: I'm also slightly concerned that by having site sponsors, you may be biased as well. Can you comment on that too?

I'll throw in my 2 cents because i've got change

One problem in RCG is the FPV forum is not moderated actively, which is good and bad I think. When things start going wrong they do so for way too long and then when it is brought to the moderators attention, it all turns to sh-t. Some people like to report lots of posts that are against the site rules, which is their right, and others don't report posts no matter what, which is their right, just doesn't work out too well for the non reporters if you ask me. Who knows, maybe this place will be a complete disaster, I just get the feeling it will all be sweet.
    I probably owe 3 cents
