I actually build a specter and didn't have a whole lot of luck with it. Maybe some plans might help I also don't think I had a big enough motor on it.

Thats one thing I learned with scratch building. If it doesn't fly, put a bigger motor on it. The Saturn rocket has a glide path of nothing, but with 1 million horsepower it goes to the moon and back

With a hot wire and some insulation foam you can rule the skies! Last year I was building a new plane every couple weeks... And modifying crashed planes into new configurations. It was fun to be able to rapid prototype so easily. I still have 2 full 4' x 8' sheets and a bunch of scrap behind the couch!

The trouble with this method is the wife thinks you have about 10+ planes .... that all cost $$$$ I asked my wife how many flying things I own and she thinks about 20 ..... I only have 7 right now and I do mean right now. currently I am building a diy spider quad copter. Just cut out some plates but I don't like it 100% ... So back to the computer to model some more.

Oh if someone has a design that they would like in a pdf form (through Autocad) let me know and I will create it for you.

Can I ask the weight. I once made a Specter with a wing loading of 17oz/ft. Flew like garbage. Stripped all the extra stuff off of it and it flew like a dream. The Specter needs to be light. More motor won't save it.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Your probably right about the weight. I was thinking it was the forward swept wing but I am sure it was a bit tubby. How heavy should I be shooting for? I'll up load a pic when I can find it.

1st, a little complaint about this site structure. It hates tablets/phones..... Can't drag a picture from the attachment window to the post.

And when I try another build, I will definitely make the ailerons larger.

What are you having trouble with? It should fly really well with the cg around 1.5" from the leading edge at the root. Weight should be around 1000g - 1200g. You don't need very much elevator travel either.

I apologize, I don't remember how much it weighed, it was last year. What is the purpose of the forward swept wings anyways?

Basically makes the root stall before the tips, so it doesn't tip stall or spin as easily. A flying wing needs winglets because the air is trying to spill off the wingtips, the overall airflow is from the center leading edge out to the tips. With forward swept wings instead of spilling off the tips, the air is encouraged to flow towards the center of the plane so the wingtips make more lift and don't need winglets.

Scratchbuilding for the win. I have only ever bought 1 plane out of all the planes I've ever had, (lost count now, but well into the double digits). And that was a Windrider Ele-bee wing core, so it still had a fair bit of building to do.
