Hi Sircana, I know you are very technically qualified. I enjoyed MYTHBUSTER..so good to see the fact from fiction corrected on the lab. I have been involved with telecoms enginnering for 30+ years. Mainly in mw RF and antenna satellite engineering. For FPV I have experimented with low noise pre-amp for the 23cm amateur band using the standard offering of Vrx. These receiver have a stated spec for receiver sensitivity of -85 > -90dBm. I have used these 23cm band kit pre-amp with NF < 0.5dB. The Vrx receiver sensitivity and hence receive system noise floor is a great improvement http://www.minikits.com.au/kits2.html#eme179a23 For your parabolic dish the gain of the antenna reduces the received noise floor. That is, the received noise is directional from the forward dBi gain of the antenna. Dish feed illumination spillover and sidelobes of course also limit the receive noise floor. The pre-amp should give a big improvement in overall receive system s/n. Lindsay
