I have an idea for an FPV project

This would be for short range low level flight over a small cross country course

I got this idea from watching the Rocket Racing leaugue

I would like to use small foam Long Ezs like this one from HK

My equipment question is basically what would be the lightest most practical
setup that you sell as a package?

I have seen some 5.8 ghz setups on Funjets but am not sure I am aware of the best option

Any feedback apprecaited

Thanks

well no responses to my question

I'mm getting the feeling I am unwise in my choice of flying platform

might be better to go with a flying wing and go wid de flo bro

I know that ReadymadeRC is very busy with catching up on orders and emails from the holiday period. I'm sure they will reply when they get a chance though.
A flying wing will probably be better in the sense that it is a proven FPV platform and more durable if you crash. The Easystar is also a good option. What is your flying and building experience level?

Thanks for the reply

Been flying for a couple years mostly big gassers now

I would like to do a closed course Red Bull Style Air race with an FPV plane short of that maybe a pylon at either end of the runway
I did a search on the other forum and there seemed to be some interest but not sure if anyone did much of it???

That plane looks really cool! Don't be afraid to try new stuff because most FPVers just get stuck in a rut of using the same 3 or 4 planes that everyone else uses. It is helpful to start out with something that basically flies itself, though.

5.8ghz would be ideal for what you want: lightweight, small size, and small antenna. Unfortunately it looks like RMRC is out of most of their 5.8ghz stuff. You want to grab some of these antennas though:

Whoa Thankyou VitaJ you are a mind reader I was just about to ask where I could find those cloverleaf antennas

Excellent

The only other fly in the ointment right now is HK is out of the Long Ezes LOL

Take a look at the reviews of the plane in that first link. I swear, those guys will sell anything if they can make a couple bucks...

Anyway, I should have some 5.8GHz equipment back soon. The Bluebeam sets from Alex that I carry are critical for good performance of 5.8GHz equipment. I should have some either Saturday or Monday.

You mentioned a funjet, if you are trying to do a "low and fast" type of plane, that or a small flying wing may be the best way to go.

I agree ReadymadeRC

My original concept has morphed quite a bit. my idea of using a small electric Long Ez or Funjet is now out the window, I think i can accomplish the same thing with a Ritewing ZII
My concept is to have a cross country course race with FPV birds
Now I am back to square one, Ill let you know when I have some more equip questions
Thanks
