Hey Sander,
Can you tell some more Specifications about your Box? For example Output voltage.
I'd like to power ezantennatracker and a lawmate vrx...

Output voltage = input voltage, so if you hook up a 3S the output will be too. All outputs are LC filtered so the power coming from them is very clean.

Hmm that's a pitty.
I hoped it has regulated Voltage Outputs, but in this Configuration it makes no sense for me.
Will there be a version where I can do this?

Thanks
Schnied

We don't have anything like that planned at the moment, sorry!

@schneid, the ezTracker needs a BEC. 5A is good. Just have to solder a barrel connector to the BEC's voltage in.

Actually, I would do a Y-cable from the main battery connector, one leg of the Y goes towards the PowerBox, the other to the BEC, this way around (noisy) return currents from the BEC driving the servos don't mix with the return current from the audio/video on the powerbox, which reduces noise in the video.

Hey,
Thank you for the quick replies.
I think a turnigy UBEC with 5V and max 5A will do the Job. What do you think.
I think I'll buy the powerBox, because of the clean Video Outputs. They are filtered too, aren't they?

Hey Sander,
i discovered at hobbyking a power box which looks exactly as yours, but without the IRC logo.
Is it the same as yours?

Kind regards
Schnied

The same, hobbyking sells more immersion gear. They just don't show their brand name for some weird reason. But it is the genuine stuff they sell.

HK is a bit weird about blocking off our brand name, we're still debating that with 'm ...

Hi Sander, ... second question in a week from me for you :)

First time out in the field with my Powerbox, ran my DUO5800 fine and also distributed my video fine... all good.

Then I plugged in my Rangevideo RC305 receiverto fly my miniture wing with (DUO disconnected at this point) and the powerbox stopped working. Polarity was correct on the plug for the RC305.

When I got home I have ran a meter around the board, the PSU outputs were only giving 3 and a bit volts. So I started some fault finding. Disconnecting the 5V regulator restored the PSU voltage back to 3S so I thought the reg was dead, however after further messing around I discovered with the regulator back in the circuit the PSU outputs would hold the 3S voltage if I plugged it in one of the PSU outputs rather than the inputs. After a while I discovered replacing the two diodes on the power input has brought it back to life. There was no obvious signs of the diodes being damaged.

I have used two 1n4148 as that is all I had to hand. Can you confirm what the two diodes should be please? (D1 and D2 on the board). I am a bit worried that teh 500mw diode might not allow the full rated 40W across the outputs. I am guessing the diodes need to be at least 2A ?

I would replace those diodes with 3A/40V types, for example:

I've had exactly the same problem and fixed it the same way.... Bad batch of SMD diodes?

Looks that way, sorry guys, feel free to send 'm in if you can't do the repair yourself, we will take care of that.

I fixed mine with non-SMD diodes, given the power rating I trust them better. A further mod I was thinking of was adding a power regulator in there too. This would protect my fatsharks and other gear going over voltage running on well charged 3s lipo's. The voltage regulators I readup on would output lower than 12 volts - they seem to float about 1 volt or so below the supply which would be fine. Their cutout voltage was well below the alarm level.

Big question I always have before I mod something - what did I miss? Why is this not regulated already? It's a great product already (the SMD diodes cooking is some other manufacturers screwup...).

You don't need to regulate. All 12V devices are rated at at least +10%, and considering the diodes are in series with the output, the output is typically lower than the input by 0.4-0.7V.

Be carefull when you bend the diodes. You can break the solder pad of the PCB

The diodes must be as low as the capasitors to fit in the box, see picture below.

I bought ImmersionRC PowerBox, but there was no manual included.
There are 2 power inputs and 4 power outputs. The inputs don't seem to be in parallel.
How should I connect 2 batteries to the PowerBox? Is it ok to connect as shown on diagram below?

And yes, the two inputs accept batteries of equal voltage.

Sander,
I've got a 9" philips tv and an Aiptek camcorder getting video out from my powerbox. However, whenever I plug in my Aiptek the screen on my TV goes black and white and waves appear at the top. The Aiptek's screen is still perfect. If I remove the Aiptek, the TV's screen gets color back and is perfect. Any idea why this is? I did not have this problem before, with the same exact equipment, but now suddenly when i power things up on my ground station I get this issue. Can you help?
