View Full Version : Home made CL antenna detail question

I followed the directions on making my own CL antenna and when I was done I figured that I might have made a mistake. Since I don't have a real way (yet) to test this I'll just show a picture and ask away. My problem comes down to not understanding where the antenna ends and the ground path back begins to the RX begins. Not sure if that is clear but have a look:

I am assuming this is for 2.4GHz, right? In this case, your issue is more or less a non-issue. Why? Simple: Your lobe length is 125mm, not 124. This small change affects SWR very little. In other words, your antenna is going to work great ;)

On the other hand, that extra length is technically part of the antenna. So if you pull the wire down a bit so that bend leaves the shield immediately, it will work slightly better.
